Luka Modric is reportedly hoping that Manchester United will offer him a Real Madrid escape route by reigniting their interest in him this summer.
The Croatian midfielder scored as Los Blancos knocked United out of the Champions League in controversial fashion last week, but has largely been a fringe player for the La Liga giants this term.
Modric was a long-term Red Devils target before he moved to the Spanish capital from Tottenham Hotspur for £33m in August 2012.
Now, less than a season into his Madrid career, the 27-year-old is ready to return to the Premier League with the Old Trafford outfit, according to the Daily Mail.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is still reportedly looking for a future alternative to Paul Scholes, and Modric has been high on his wishlist in the past.
