Motherwell have confirmed that they have signed Manchester United Under-21s captain Liam Grimshaw on a short-term loan.
The versatile midfielder will remain at Fir Park until January, the Scottish Premiership club have announced.
The 20-year-old, who can play as a central defender or in midfield, previously completed a loan stint with League Two side Morecambe.
"He is a player we have watched regularly and have been patient trying to get him confirmed," said Motherwell boss Ian Baraclough in a statement.
"Although he is young, he has been schooled at an excellent club and he'll add some steel in the middle of the park.
"He'll compete with the likes of Stephen Pearson, Keith Lasley, Jack Leitch, Jake Taylor and some of our young talent in the Under-20s for a starting spot, which gives us some decent competition."
Grimshaw has been with the United academy since 2002.
