Jose Mourinho has reportedly already put plans in place to strengthen Manchester United's midfield during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils boss bolstered his attacking ranks with the high-profile signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal earlier this week, having stolen a march on rivals Manchester City for the Chilean forward.
According to The Independent, the surprise arrival of the 29-year-old - who was not even a serious target for United at the turn of the year - has seen Mourinho significantly alter his short-term transfer plans.
Rather than attempt to bring in a winger and a striker over the next seven months - two positions that Sanchez can cover - the Portuguese will now focus solely on his midfield.
Mesut Ozil is said to remain on United's radar but, with wage demands of £300,000 a week, other better-value options have emerged.
The report suggests that Valencia youngster Carlos Soler and Julian Weigl of Borussia Dortmund will be targeted, while Nice's Jean Michael Seri - formerly wanted by Barcelona - is also being eyed up by Mourinho.
