Jose Mourinho reportedly turned down Ed Woodward's proposal for Manchester United to sign one of Gareth Bale, Neymar or Kylian Mbappe during this summer's transfer window.
The Red Devils boss revealed earlier this week that he is still after two more players before the window closes in a fortnight's time, one of which is likely to be a forward player.
According to The Independent, however, Mourinho rejected the chance to pursue the superstar trio proposed by Woodward, who pitched each player on multiple occasions during face-to-face talks.
Mourinho is said to have informed the club's vice-chairman that he instead wants a hard-working winger, rather than a flamboyant wide attacker, but the search has so far been unsuccessful.
United have brought in three players so far this summer, with Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant arriving for a combined £67.5m.
