Manchester United are reportedly prepared to part with Nani to sign Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan.
A report in Portugal claimed earlier today that the two clubs had reached an agreement over the transfer of Argentina international Gaitan, with United believed to be paying around £21m.
However, according to Portuguese media outlet Sapo, Benfica have also demanded United winger Nani in part exchange.
It is not expected that Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal will provide any resistance to that proposal, having deemed the 28-year-old surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Nani, who has three years left to run on his United contract, spent last season on loan with Benfica's rivals Sporting Lisbon.
