Newcastle United are reportedly considering a swoop for Manchester United defender Phil Jones in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.
The arrival of Harry Maguire at Old Trafford could see Jones struggle for regular action during the 2019-20 campaign, particularly with the Red Devils rejecting interest in fellow centre-back Chris Smalling.
According to ESPN, as the clock ticks towards the deadline, Newcastle are eyeing a possible move for the England international.
The 27-year-old has made over 200 appearances for the 20-time English champions since arriving from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2011.
Jones has only made more than 20 Premier League appearances in one of the last four seasons, though, and has struggled with a succession of injuries in recent years.
Everton, meanwhile, are said to be locked in discussions with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side over a late move for Marcos Rojo.
