Alejandro Garnacho future: Fresh 'twist' in transfer saga as 'offer is submitted' for Man United star

Napoli allegedly increase their offer for Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho to £46.5m, but it is still believed to fall short of the English club's asking price.

Napoli have reportedly increased their offer for Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho to €55m (£46.5m).

There is currently a host of speculation surrounding the Argentina international's future, with Man United open to selling him for a high price during the January transfer window for financial reasons.

Napoli have now sold Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain, and it is understood that Garnacho is their number one target to replace the forward, who had also been linked with Liverpool.

Antonio Conte's side are said to have failed with a €47m (£40m) offer for Garnacho towards the end of last week, with Man United holding firm on their valuation, which is believed to be €70m (£59m).

According to Tuttosport, Napoli have now placed an improved bid of €55m (£46.5m), including bonuses, on the table, but it is not expected to be enough to convince the Red Devils to let him leave.

The report claims that Garnacho has already agreed personal terms with the Serie A giants, but Man United are not actively looking to sell and therefore any deal will depend on whether their asking price is met.

Napoli 'increase Garnacho offer to £46.5m'

Garnacho has scored eight goals and registered five assists in 31 appearances for Man United during the 2024-25 campaign, but he has only managed three goals and one assist in 20 Premier League outings.

The forward has started Man United's last two matches against Arsenal and Southampton, but there remain question marks surrounding his suitability for Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 formation.

The majority of Garnacho's best work during his Red Devils career has come as a wide player, but he is currently being asked to feature as an inside forward and has thus far found it difficult to make his mark.

Man United's financial situation means that serious offers for the Argentina international would be considered, as his sale would count as pure profit under the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules.

However, there is no real desire to move Garnacho on, and he is again expected to be involved in Sunday's Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

Chelsea are also being credited with an interest in the youngster, although it is highly unlikely that the Red Devils would be willing to let him make the move to a domestic rival.

Is Rashford leaving Man United in January?

Marcus Rashford is believed to be closing in on a loan departure, with Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona allegedly in a head-to-head battle for the Englishman, who has also been linked with AC Milan.

As a result, it is incredibly difficult to imagine Man United allowing two attackers to leave during the same window, at least without signing a replacement, which makes a departure for Garnacho even more unlikely. body check tags ::
