Paris Saint-Germain 'to battle Real Madrid for Son Heung-min'

Paris Saint-Germain emerge as candidates to sign Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min, according to a report.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen to bring Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min to the club.

The 30-year-old made the move to Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2015, and he has represented the North London club on 344 occasions in all competitions, scoring 136 goals and providing 76 assists.

Son shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Mohamed Salah last season, having found the back of the net on 23 occasions in England's top flight.

Meanwhile, the South Korea international has scored five goals and registered two assists in 19 appearances for Antonio Conte's side during the 2022-23 campaign.

There has recently been speculation surrounding Son's future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with his current deal due to expire in June 2025.

Real Madrid are said to be long-term admirers of the attacker, with the Spanish club's head coach Carlo Ancelotti believed to be keen to bring him to Bernabeu.

However, according to El Nacional, there is also genuine interest from PSG, with the club's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi identifying him as a priority signing.

The report claims that Al-Khelaifi is planning to meet with Son during the World Cup in a bid to convince the South Korean to make the move to the French champions.

Son had emerged as a huge doubt for the World Cup when he fractured his eye socket during a Champions League clash with Marseille on November 1.

The forward has since undergone a facial operation, but he has been named in the South Korea squad for the upcoming tournament in Qatar.

Tottenham would allegedly be willing to listen to offers in the region of €80m (£70m) if it became clear that Son was pushing for a move away from the club.

Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are also said to be keeping a close eye on the developments, but it is unlikely that Spurs would be willing to sell to a Premier League rival.

PSG could potentially lose Lionel Messi on a free transfer next summer, which would open up space in the squad to move for a new attacker.

Meanwhile, there remains uncertainty surrounding Kylian Mbappe's long-term future at the club despite the France international penning a new contract over the summer.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp recently said that failing to sign Son during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund was 'one of the biggest mistakes of his life'. body check tags ::
