Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres has reportedly rejected the chance to join Tottenham Hotspur, as he wants to play in the Champions League during the 2021-22 campaign.
The Spain international, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid, is believed to have emerged as a leading defensive target for Tottenham during this summer's window.
According to journalist Pedro Sepulveda, Nuno Espirito Santo's side had an offer worth an initial £38m plus £4m in add-ons accepted by the Yellow Submarine.
However, Sepulveda claims that Torres turned down a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as the defender is only interested in moving to a club that can offer Champions League football.
Villarreal's Europa League triumph last term means that Unai Emery's side have automatically qualified for the group stages of this season's European Cup.
Man United are still thought to be admirers of Torres, but Raphael Varane's arrival at Old Trafford has seemingly ended their interest in the Spaniard in the current market.
