Granada have reportedly put themselves in pole position to secure a loan deal for Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri.
The Spanish outfit have endured a dismal campaign in La Liga thus far, collecting just 11 points from their 20 matches in 2023-24.
However, sitting just five points adrift of 17th position in the table, Alexander Medina's side remain in contention to eventually get out of trouble.
Goals have not necessarily been an issue with Granada having scored more strikes than seven teams in the top flight, yet it appears that Nazaríes are eager to strengthen in the final third.
According to Football Insider, Granada have emerged as frontrunners for Pellistri over the past 24 hours.
Despite his lack of game time at Old Trafford, Pellistri is not short of interest from teams across Europe and in MLS.
Villarreal, PSV Eindhoven and Los Angeles Galaxy have all been credited as admirers of the Uruguay international, either on a permanent or temporary deal.
Nevertheless, it appears that Granada have made headway in talks with United as they attempt to negotiate a loan proposal.
Pellistri is no stranger to Spanish football having previously made 11 starts and 24 substitute outings across two stints with Alaves between January 2021 and June 2022.
He has failed to win over United boss Erik ten Hag, though, with just three starts and 11 substitute appearances being given to the playmaker this season.
The 22-year-old has not played more than 27 minutes of football in a single game since the start of October, highlighting his role down the pecking order.
As it stands, it is unclear whether Granada would possess an option to buy, although Pellistri may have ambitions to represent a bigger club should he leave United in the future.
His contract at the Theatre of Dreams runs until the end of 2024-25, albeit with United having the option to extend those terms by an extra 12 months. body check tags ::
