Man United considering shock move for £70m Chelsea star amid Alejandro Garnacho uncertainty

Manchester United are reportedly considering a shock swoop for Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku amid uncertainty surrounding Alejandro Garnacho's future.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku as a potential transfer target amid uncertainty over Alejandro Garnacho's future at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have already turned down a £40m move from Napoli for Garnacho, who is under contract until the summer of 2028.

While Napoli are set to turn their attention elsewhere, Garnacho is now being heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

A recent report claimed that Chelsea are ready to make an approach to sign the Argentina international, with Man United open to significant offers due to their concerns over the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.

If Garnacho were to leave, Man United could look to strengthen their attacking options, especially as Antony is set to join Real Betis on loan and Marcus Rashford continues to be linked with a winter departure.

Man United considering Nkunku swoop

According to Sky Sports News, Man United are weighing up a surprise move for Chelsea's Nkunku before the transfer window shuts on February 3.

The report claims that discussions have already taken place between 'intermediaries' over a deal that would see Nkunku head to Old Trafford.

While Chelsea are said to be reluctant to sanction Nkunku's departure, they will consider parting ways if they receive an offer in the region of £70m.

However, Man United are unlikely to meet that valuation, meaning that a compromise may need to be reached if they are to prise the forward away from Stamford Bridge.

Could Bayern challenge Nkunku?

Like Man United, Bayern have also shown an interest in signing the former RB Leipzig man in the current transfer window.

The Bavarians have so far failed in their efforts to agree a deal with Chelsea, with their hopes of an agreement appearing to rest on Mathys Tel's shoulders.

Bayern would supposedly stand a better chance of recruiting Nkunku if Tel was willing to move in the opposite direction in a separate deal.

Nkunku is being linked with a move away after struggling to establish himself as a first-choice option under Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

The France international has made just three Premier League starts this season, compared with the seven starts that he has made in the Conference League (including qualifying), where Maresca has tended to rest his main stars.

Nevertheless, Nkunku has still managed to showcase his goalscoring talent this season, having netted 13 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions. body check tags ::
