Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly been given the chance to sign Manchester United midfielder Casemiro in the January transfer window.
In the summer of 2022, United committed to a deal that could eventually reach £70m to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid.
The Brazil international impressed during his first campaign at Old Trafford, chipping in with seven goals from 51 appearances and helping United win the EFL Cup.
However, as it stands, the 31-year-old has failed to replicate the form that he produced during 2022-23, while injury has restricted him to 12 outings.
There have been times during the season when Casemiro has looked off the pace and Erik ten Hag will expect improvements once he returns from an injury that has kept him sidelined since November 1.
United have failed to find more consistency in his absence, with a defeat to Bayern Munich seeing them bow out of the Champions League in the group phase.
Missing out on revenue that would have been generated from reaching the last 16 may now impact on United's ability to do business at the turn of the year.
Before that exit from European football's premier competition, a report had already indicated that Casemiro was one of a number of players who would be considered for an exit.
According to Le10Sport, Casemiro's agent has already made the decision to enquire whether PSG would be interested in negotiating a deal with United.
Rather than focus on younger talent, a change in recruitment policy over the summer led to a mixture of youth and experience arriving at Parc des Princes.
That could theoretically favour Casemiro's chances of a transfer with Luis Enrique's preferred midfield trio - Warren Zaire-Emery, Manuel Ugarte and Vitinha - no older than 23 years of age.
As it stands, though, it is unclear whether reaching a resolution in January is a realistic possibility with the process dependent on what fee United would expect for a player who is performing nowhere near to his peak.
Casemiro possesses a contract at United until 2026, but United would be able to benefit from an FFP perspective if they got his big wages off their outgoings as soon as possible. body check tags ::
