PSV Eindhoven reportedly value Cody Gakpo at £50m, as the speculation surrounding a possible January move for the Netherlands international continues to gather pace.
Manchester United are said to be weighing up a mid-season move for Gakpo, with the Red Devils looking to sign a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo during the winter market.
Gakpo held talks with the 20-time English champions over the summer, but the club ultimately focused on bringing in Antony from Ajax to solve their issues on the right side of their attack.
The PSV forward has been in excellent form at club level this term, scoring 13 goals and registering 17 assists in 24 appearances in all competitions.
Meanwhile, he starred for the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup, scoring three goals in five appearances, with the European country reaching the quarter-finals of the competition.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Man United currently value Gakpo under £45m, but PSV would want £50m before agreeing to sell him during the January transfer window.
Jacobs claims that 'around £8m has been added' to his valuation since the end of the World Cup.
PSV director of football Marcel Brands recently admitted that Gakpo could leave Eindhoven in January.
"You have to be realistic. If you talk about Cody Gakpo and the price tag attached to him, there may be 10 to 12 clubs in Europe that can afford him," Brands told Eeuwig Trouw.
"Amounts have not been discussed, but if the right club comes that Cody would like to go. Those agreements were already made before I came. It must be a record transfer for PSV anyway. Then you know in which direction it should go.
"In the media it seems like all the clubs are lining up, but the reality is that we don't know anything about interest or anything yet. It's quiet. I've spoken to Cody, he's going on vacation for 10 days. If something is at play, it is perhaps known to Cody or his management, but not to us yet."
Meanwhile, PSV boss Ruud van Nistelrooy recently told reporters: "If I have the choice, I prefer [Gakpo to leave in] the summer, but it can also be now. You just know there comes a time when you can't say no."
Gakpo has scored 55 goals and registered 50 assists in 159 appearances for PSV in all competitions, with the majority of those outings (106) and goals (36) coming in the Eredivisie.
Arsenal and Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the Dutchman, although it is believed that Man United are at the head of the queue for his signature. body check tags ::
