Brazilian international Rafael has committed his future to Manchester United by signing a new four-year contract with club.
The 21-year-old has featured on a regular basis for the Red Devils since arriving at Old Trafford back in 2008.
Having agreed to the fresh terms, the full-back thanked manager Sir Alex Ferguson for having faith in his ability.
"I am so happy to sign a new contract," Rafael told the club's official website. "I love playing for Manchester United, there is a great team spirit here and a real desire to win.
"My time here has been unbelievable. Winning two league titles, a league cup and a Club World Cup has made me hungry for more trophies.
"I would like to thank Sir Alex for his belief in me and I would also like to thank the fans for their support."
Rafael has made 90 appearances for United in all competitions, scoring two goals in the process.
