Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has ruled out any potential departure for his midfielder James Ward-Prowse this summer.
The 27-year-old has impressed for Southampton this season, scoring nine goals in 33 Premier League appearances so far.
The South Coast side rejected a £25m offer from Aston Villa for their star player last year, and with the upcoming summer transfer window just around the corner, Hasenhuttl has stated that the Saints captain will not be leaving.
According to the Daily Echo, Manchester United and Manchester City are both interested in acquiring the services of the midfielder, with a reported transfer being somewhere in the region of £75m.
However, Hasenhuttl told reporters: "He has another four years on his contract here, he is happy here, he is our captain and he will stay here.
"We have him here as our captain and it is important that we are as a team successful and make steps forward. In this season we have shown in some moments that we can definitely play like a top 10 team, but there is still a few things missing."
Ward-Prowse has come through the Southampton academy, and his current contract runs until the summer of 2026. body check tags ::
