Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has said that he wants to keep Donny van de Beek at Old Trafford for the remainder of the season.
The Netherlands international has made 12 appearances for the Red Devils this term but has played just 67 minutes of Premier League football in 2021-22, and there have been suggestions that he could leave Old Trafford during the January transfer window.
Rangnick, though, has insisted that the 24-year-old will be given opportunities to impress and has insisted that he is keen to keep hold of the Dutchman until at least the end of the campaign.
"Just work hard. So far, as I have got to know him, he has got a top mentality. He works hard in every training session. He is a team player through and through," Rangnick told reporters. "There will be games where he will get his chance to play, I am sure.
"I also had a long conversation with him last week about that and again, of course it is difficult for him right now because he also wants to play for the Dutch national team, he wants to qualify for himself and play in the World Cup in Qatar and in order to do that he needs to get game time here.
"But I still believe we should keep him, and he should stay here, definitely until the end of this season and try to get as much game time as he possibly can."
Van de Beek has scored two goals and two assists in 48 appearances for Man United in all competitions. body check tags ::
