Manchester United have reportedly lost out to Real Madrid in the race for Rennes protege Eduardo Camavinga.
In spite of the fact that Paul Pogba seems set to remain at Old Trafford for at least one more season, United have still been tipped to move for Camavinga amid his own contract uncertainty.
The 18-year-old has entered the final year of his deal with Rennes and can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs elsewhere from January, but Real Madrid are also reported to be eyeing a cut-price move for his services.
According to Marca, a deal to bring Camavinga to the Bernabeu is now "very close", with Real Madrid set to fork out €30m (£25.7m) to secure the teenager's signature.
The report adds that Real Madrid have beaten both United and Paris Saint-Germain to the much-coveted youngster, who is now preparing for his medical with Carlo Ancelotti's side.
The France international has already turned out six times for Rennes in all competitions this term - albeit starting just one of them - and he boasts two goals and five assists from 88 appearances for the club in total. body check tags ::
