Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a move for Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix.

The 22-year-old joined Atletico in a big-money deal from Benfica in July 2019, and he has represented the Red and Whites on 122 occasions in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and contributing 18 assists in the process.

Felix still has another four years left to run on his contract at Wanda Metropolitano, but there was speculation surrounding his future during the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are believed to have made an offer of €130m (£110m) for the Portugal international before they ultimately agreed a deal with Ajax for Antony.

"Nothing came to me, it's a matter for the presidents. I am here," Felix recently told Marca when he was questioned on the alleged bid from the 20-time English champions.

Over the summer, Felix said that he was "happy" at Atletico and hoping to enjoy a successful 2022-23 campaign.

"I'm happy, I'm working to help the team, give joy to the club and all the people of Atleti. The other years I always tried to be better. If this is my year, I don't know. It depends, we don't know about the future," he told AS.

"But what I can assure you is that I am doing my best to be at the best level so that I can help the team and the club. I arrived here young, I'm still young but I've already grown a lot and I'm sure to grow more. And I'm fine. I'm happy. I have a calm head and when so, things go naturally and let's hope things are good.

"With [Antoine] Griezmann, with Alvaro [Morata], with [Matheus] Cunha, with Angel [Correa]. We all get along well and on the field, the team is doing great."

However, Felix is yet to find the back of the net in 11 appearances for Atletico this season, drawing another blank against Girona in La Liga on Saturday.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the Portuguese's situation at Wanda Metropolitano and could make a move for him next summer.

The report claims that Los Blancos want a statement signing after missing out on Kylian Mbappe and Erling Braut Haaland, and Felix is greatly admired by the club's head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Karim Benzema is allegedly on the verge of signing a contract extension at Bernabeu, but Real Madrid are short of centre-forward options, which could lead to them making a signing next summer.

Felix, who netted 20 goals and registered 11 assists in 43 games for Benfica ahead of a switch to Atletico, has scored three times in 23 appearances for Portugal, and the attacker is expected to be in the squad for the World Cup in Qatar. body check tags ::
