Real Madrid are reportedly confident of signing Raphael Varane to a new long-term contract.

The France international's current deal at the Bernabeu is due to expire in the summer of 2022, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks.

Manchester United are said to be interested in signing the centre-back, who is thought to be open to moving to the Premier League during this summer's transfer window.

However, according to Marca, talks over a fresh deal between the two parties 'have been going well', and Los Blancos are confident of reaching an agreement 'soon'.

The 27-year-old has made over 350 appearances for Madrid since arriving from Lens in 2011, including 33 outings in all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign.

The World Cup winner has won three La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns during his time with Zinedine Zidane's side. body check tags ::
