Inter Milan are close to securing the free signing of Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin, according to a report.
The Uruguay international, strongly linked with a switch to Manchester United last summer, has not signed the new deal awarded to him by Atleti earlier in the season.
Godin is therefore able to negotiate terms with clubs from this month over an end-of-season switch, and Sky Sport Italia suggests that Inter have as good as won the race for the experienced defender.
A two-year deal is said to have been handed to the 32-year-old - who has spent the past decade playing in Spanish football - with the option of a third.
Man United have since been tipped to move for Roma's Kostas Manolas and Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham Hotspur.
