Inter Milan have lodged a formal offer to sign Italian full-back Matteo Darmian on loan from Manchester United, according to a report.
The 28-year-old is widely expected to depart Old Trafford before the transfer window closes after being restricted to just six starts in all competitions last season.
United are keen to get Darmian off their books for good, but Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Inter are only interested in an initial loan deal, with the option for a permanent deal next year.
However, it is understood that the only way the Nerazzurri will get their way is if an obligation to buy is inserted into the loan deal.
Darmian, who has made a total of 54 Premier League appearances for United, is also rumoured to be on the radar of Serie A champions Juventus.
