Keylor Navas is reportedly preparing to ask Real Madrid for a new and improved contract.
The Costa Rican was involved in one of the most bizarre transfer sagas of all time in the latter stages of the summer window, with his club just missing out on David de Gea from Manchester United.
Navas was due to move to Old Trafford as part of the deal for De Gea, but the documentation was sent too late to the Spanish league, which voided the transfer.
According to Sport, Navas wants to test his position at the Bernabeu by asking for a new contract that would involve a rise in salary and a change to his release clause.
The 28-year-old has started the new campaign as Real Madrid's number one goalkeeper ahead of summer signing Kiko Casilla.
