Manchester United scout Robbie Cooke was reportedly in attendance for Real Sociedad's 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in La Liga at the weekend.
According to Voetball International, Cooke was assigned with the task of watching Bilbao's Ander Herrera and Sociedad duo Antoine Griezmann and Inigo Martinez in the Basque derby.
United came close to signing Herrera in the summer transfer window, but the move broke down due to the English club's unwillingness to pay his full release clause.
Griezmann, meanwhile, has scored 12 times in 16 league games this season, with his form drawing a host of interest from across Europe.
The same can be said for Spanish centre-back Martinez, who is regarded as one of the best young defenders in European football and has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona.
