Roma have reportedly emerged as the favourites to sign Benfica midfielder Axel Witsel this summer.
The 23-year-old, who joined the club from Standard Liege last summer, has impressed during his first season in Portugal.
It had been understood that Chelsea and Manchester United would move for the Belgium international. However, Roma now lead the race, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Italians will reportedly bid £16m for the midfielder.
