Jose Mourinho's Roma are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof this summer.

The Portuguese boss has already signed Nemanja Matic from the Red Devils after his contract at Old Trafford expired at the end of June.

The Serie A outfit are also believed to be interested in signing Eric Bailly, with one report claiming that the defender is available for less than £10m this summer.

Forza Roma now reports that Lindelof is the latest United player to emerge as a potential target for the Giallorossi, who are looking to bolster their defensive options before the September 1 deadline.

The report adds that Mourinho is an admirer of Lindelof and the 28-year-old's name was mentioned in talks between United and Roma during their negotiations over a possible deal for his teammate Bailly.

Lindelof was signed by Mourinho during his time in charge of the Red Devils, with the Sweden international joining from Benfica in the summer of 2017 for around £40m.

The defender has since made 195 appearances across all competitions for United, including 34 last season, although he is yet to win a single trophy with the club.

Following the big-money arrival of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, Lindelof could potentially be pushed further down the pecking order, with captain Harry Maguire and last summer's recruit Raphael Varane also competing for a place in Erik ten Hag's starting lineup.

A possible switch to Roma, where he would seemingly gain more regular first-team football, could therefore appeal to Lindelof, who has two years remaining on his contract.

Roma have already signed four players so far this summer in the form of Matic, Paulo Dybala, Zeki Celik and Mile Svilar, but they remain active in the transfer market.

The Giallorossi are understood to be on the verge of signing Georgino Wijnaldum on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, while they have also expressed an interest in signing striker Andrea Belotti who is currently a free agent after leaving Torino.

Man United, meanwhile, are believed to be keen to offload a number of defenders this summer, with the futures of Bailly, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams all believed to be uncertain.

Alex Telles has now completed his switch to Spanish side Sevilla on a season-long loan deal, while Roma have been joined by the likes of Sevilla, Fulham, and AC Milan in the race to sign Bailly. body check tags ::
