Manchester United have reportedly allowed Sergio Romero to return to Argentina ahead of a transfer away from Old Trafford.
Aware that he was now only regarded as third choice in the pecking order, Romero was left frustrated at the beginning of the season when he was unable to secure a move to another club.
However, with less than six months remaining on his contract, both parties are keen for the stopper to find a new team before the end of the January window.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 33-year-old has already said his goodbyes to the United squad and staff.
The report claims that Romero is now back in his homeland ahead of completing a switch to Boca Juniors in the coming days.
Romero will leave United having been provided with 61 starts in all competitions during his four-and-a-half years at the club.
