Wayne Rooney has described rumours of him leaving Manchester United as "absolute rubbish".
It was reported earlier this week that United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was prepared to sell the striker for £40m.
"Read the nonsense in the papers and heard what people have to say," he tweeted. "absolute rubbish."
Rooney was recently ruled out of action for a month after receiving a gash on his leg during Saturday's 3-2 win over Fulham.
