Wayne Rooney has reportedly decided to remain a Manchester United player following months of speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
The England international had initially been tipped to leave the club after Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that the 27-year-old had expressed a desire to seek pastures new towards the end of the season.
Following a brief talk with new United manager David Moyes, Rooney is expected to have a face-to-face meeting with the Scotsman next week to inform him of his decision to stay with the Premier League champions, according to the Daily Star.
It had been suggested that Rooney, who was thought to be a target for Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal, was considering a departure due to his frustrations at being played in a deeper role under Ferguson, who retired at the end of the season.
