Manchester United are reportedly expected to part ways with Jadon Sancho during the January transfer window.

The winger has just started his third campaign at United, making a total of 82 appearances in all competitions since his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund.

However, Sancho has contributed just 12 goals and six assists, while just 76 minutes of football has been accumulated during the start of 2023-24.

That is unlikely to get much higher, a consequence of a fallout with head coach Erik ten Hag after the England international was left out of the squad for the Premier League fixture at Arsenal at the beginning of the month.

After Ten Hag publicly criticised his playing standard during training, Sancho took to social media to reply and suggest that he was constantly being made to be 'a scapegoat'.

If the 23-year-old is to reclaim a spot in Ten Hag's plans, productive discussions will realistically need to take place behind the scenes.

However, according to the Daily Star, the pair have struggled to find a common ground when speaking about the matter over the past 10 days.

As a result, the likelihood is that Sancho will be allowed to depart United at the turn of the year, either on a temporary or permanent basis.

Sancho has just under three years on his contract, leaving United in a position where they can still look to generate substantial funds despite the prospect of interested teams looking to take advantage of the situation.

In the long term, there is a scenario where United could benefit from Sancho's sale with the chance to recoup a considerable fee providing them with money to strengthen elsewhere.

Nevertheless, in the short term, Ten Hag finds himself becoming short of options on the flanks, not helped by the ongoing allegations and situation regarding Antony.

Amad Diallo is also unavailable for the club's upcoming fixtures due to a knee injury, seemingly leaving the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri with the prospect of more game time.

Marcus Rashford may be used more frequently on the flank, however, with Rasmus Hojlund having produced an encouraging performance on debut against the Gunners last time out.
