Jadon Sancho is reportedly open to the possibility of returning to Manchester United next season on the condition that Erik ten Hag is no longer at the club.
The England international endured a frustrating start to life at Old Trafford since joining the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund for £73m back in 2021.
Sancho was sent on loan to his former club in January after he was dropped from United's first team following a falling out with Ten Hag in September last year.
Since returning to BVB, Sancho has regained form and impressed during his side's journey to Saturday's Champions League final despite ultimately falling short against Real Madrid.
While it seemed that the 24-year-old was almost certain to be moved on in the summer, staying with the Red Devils now appears to be an option, although it will depend on the managerial situation at Old Trafford.
Sancho sets condition for Man United return
According to The Mirror, Sancho is open to a return to United but only if Ten Hag departs Old Trafford this summer.
The report adds that the player still has hopes of making it as a Man United player but recognises that it would not be possible under the Dutch manager's leadership.
Sancho and Ten Hag's relationship soured after the winger refused to apologise for a social media post suggesting the Dutchman's reason for dropping him from the squad was untrue.
It is understood that Dortmund are keen on making their loan deal with the 24-year-old permanent but are likely to struggle to meet United's asking price for the winger.
In the six months that Sancho spent at BVB Stadion Dortmund, he notched up three goals and three assists in 21 appearances across all competitions.
Manchester United managerial situation still up in the air
Ten Hag's future at United is under scrutiny, with the club currently conducting an in-depth review of the season before deciding on his and several first-team players' fate.
The speculation surrounding the Red Devils' managerial position has opened the door for potential replacements, with several big names linked with a possible move to Manchester.
Among the candidates that have been linked to the role are former Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel, Brentford's Thomas Frank and Mauricio Pochettino, who recently departed Chelsea after just one season at the helm.
England manager Gareth Southgate, who left Sancho out of his squad selection for the upcoming European Championships in Germany, is also believed to be on the club's shortlist of potential managerial targets.
However, United's victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final may have bought the Dutchman more time, adding another layer of uncertainty to Sancho's decision-making process.
Nevertheless, the next few weeks will be crucial in determining the direction the club takes.
During his time at Old Trafford, Sancho made 82 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. body check tags ::
