Schalke 04 have reportedly made Manchester United centre-back Marcos Rojo one of their main transfer targets.
It is believed that head coach Andre Breitenreiter is keen to bolster his defensive options at the Veltins-Arena, particularly with Benedikt Howedes sidelined through injury.
Rojo also has fitness problems of his own at present, but that has not put off the Bundesliga outfit, according to Bild.
The report adds that if Schalke are unsuccessful in their pursuit of the Argentine, they will switch their attention to Dynamo Kiev's Austria international Aleksandar Dragovic.
Rojo joined the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon for £16m in the summer of 2014.
