Sevilla are reportedly planning to make a move for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood during next summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils decided in August that Greenwood would not represent the club again after concluding an investigation into the events that led to his arrest in January 2022.

Following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The forward was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but the CPS said that all charges had been dropped earlier this year, allowing him to resume his career this season.

Man United are believed to have made the decision to bring him back into the first team before changing their minds due to the public backlash, and he ultimately made the move to Getafe on loan in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

Despite not playing since January 2022, Greenwood did not take long to get up to speed at Getafe, making his debut for the club against Osasuna on September 17.

The Englishman has made five appearances this season, scoring once and providing one assist, and it is understood that he would be open to joining Getafe permanently next summer.

However, according to The Mirror, there is likely to be a battle for his services at the end of the campaign, with a number of other La Liga clubs said to be keen on his signature.

The report claims that Sevilla are among those, and Los Nervionenses could potentially give him the chance to make his return to European football.

Greenwood still has a contract with Man United until June 2025, and journalist Jamie Jackson recently claimed that there could be a route back into the first-team picture at Old Trafford.

However, it seems highly unlikely that the forward will represent the 20-time English champions again, with a permanent exit next summer expected to occur.

Greenwood is said to have settled well in Spain since his arrival last month, but a successful 2023-24 campaign will likely lead to high-profile clubs from other leagues expressing an interest.

Before his arrest, the forward was regarded as one of the best young talents in world football.

Greenwood has played 129 matches for the Red Devils, scoring 35 goals and registering 12 assists in the process, including 22 goals and four assists in 83 Premier League matches. body check tags ::
