Barcelona will reportedly consider moving for Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer if they are unable to secure another deal for Manchester City's Joao Cancelo.
The Catalan outfit are said to be determined to keep Cancelo at Camp Nou next season, but their well-documented financial issues could mean that only another loan deal is possible.
According to CaughtOffside, Barcelona have an agreement with Cancelo over a return to the club, but a deal is still some way off, with Man City aware of lucrative interest from Saudi Arabia.
The report claims that the Catalan side are putting plans in place if they miss out on Cancelo, and Wan-Bissaka is viewed by the club as a possible signing during the current market.
The 26-year-old's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with Man United believed to be willing to listen to offers for him during the summer window.
Barcelona 'consider' move for Wan-Bissaka
Wan-Bissaka made the move to Man United from Crystal Palace in 2019, and he has represented the 20-time English champions on 190 occasions in all competitions, scoring twice and providing 13 assists.
The defender is no longer the first-choice right-back at Old Trafford, with Diogo Dalot taking that position, but Wan-Bissaka benefitted from Man United's injury problems last season.
Indeed, the Englishman made 30 outings in all competitions during the 2023-24 campaign, featuring as both a right-back and a left-back, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia having severe injury problems.
Wan-Bissaka started Man United's final 10 matches of the recent Premier League season and also impressed in the FA Cup final against Man City, which the Red Devils won 2-1.
Would Wan-Bissaka be a good signing for Barcelona?
Man United's desire to sell Wan-Bissaka this summer could mean that he is available for a bargain fee.
The defender's contract is due to expire in June 2025, and with a new deal unlikely to be offered, it would be a surprise if Wan-Bissaka was not on the move this summer.
The Englishman has formed a reputation as one of the best one-on-one defenders in the Premier League, but there remains criticism of his positioning and attacking ability.
Wan-Bissaka is the opposite of Cancelo in that sense, as the latter is capable of having a huge impact in the final third of the field.
However, Barcelona might feel that there is no need for their right-back to get involved in the attacking play on a consistent basis due to Lamine Yamal's incredible quality, and if he can be picked up for a very small fee, then it could turn out to be a clever signing for the Catalan giants. body check tags ::
