Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has exclusively told Sports Mole that he is hoping to see Marcus Rashford play for the Red Devils again.

The academy graduate is expected to depart Old Trafford during the January transfer window, with the likes of AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund circling around the talent.

Man United head coach Ruben Amorim stated after the FA Cup success at Arsenal on Sunday that he is unsure whether Rashford will feature again, an eventuality that Kuszczak feels would be a shame.

"I hope that he is going to get another chance, but we know that many clubs are interested and obviously he has admitted that maybe it's time for change," Kuszczak told Sports Mole.

"If you start to feel that, you don't get the backup and you don't get the joy in the environment which you're in, you want to look for something different and this is what's happening with Marcus."

Rashford "difficult to replace" as Amorim looks to stamp authority

Among the clubs interested in a loan deal for Rashford this month are AC Milan, who are expected to formally approach Man United over the signing of the winger until the end of the campaign.

There is no doubting the 27-year-old's ability, with the Carrington graduate netting 30 goals during the 2022-23 campaign under Erik ten Hag, although he has scored just 15 times across his last 67 competitive appearances.

Three-time Premier League winner Kuszczak has told Sports Mole that Rashford will be "difficult to replace", especially considering that he has been "one of the leaders" at the Theatre of Dreams over the past nine years.

"We know Marcus Rashford, he's an English international and a fantastic player, everyone knows him, but United is the kind of team where no one person is going to change the course of the football club and this is the problem," explained Kuszczak.

"Obviously Rashford is treated as one of the leaders of the football team with his performances in previous years. Now there is a new manager, who has got a different view of football. For me personally it's going to be difficult to replace Rashford."

Rashford exit could help Man Utd address the "most important thing" in pursuit of success

Working in the winter window to recruit a first-team starter is always challenging for Man United, especially when that player operates at the business end of the pitch.

However, the departure of Rashford could indirectly assist the Red Devils' hunt for success, with Kuszczak telling Sports Mole: "The most important thing for the football team and for the manager is that he's going to be able to build the spirit in the team and not just the players, the whole football club.

"I'm not the first guy who is saying this and many of my friends and colleagues from my time [at Man United] are saying exactly the same because we feel the same, even after so many years have passed, we feel that when we see today each other.

"We can tell that we are family, you're always happy to see these people and I've got this feeling that United have never had this since Sir Alex Ferguson left."

After dramatically knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup on the weekend, a Rashford-less Man United will be expected to put Premier League strugglers Southampton to the sword at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
