Wolves transfer news: Six Premier League 'willing' to make big-money bid for Matheus Cunha

:Headline: Wolves transfer news: Six Premier League 'willing' to make big-money bid for Matheus Cunha:
Six Premier League clubs are reportedly preparing to make a big-money approach for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha during the summer transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha may allegedly receive offers from six Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window.

Despite penning a new long-term contract as recently as February, Cunha continues to be heavily linked with an exit from Molineux.

As well as reportedly having a £62.5m release clause in his fresh deal, the Brazil international has given interviews and posted social media content that suggests that he is eyeing his next move.

Cunha still delivered his 14th Premier League goal of the campaign on Sunday afternoon as he came off the substitutes' bench to score in the 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Fichajes, Spurs are one of six teams that have been convinced to make a formal approach for the player ahead of 2025-26.

Which other clubs want Cunha?

The report alleges that Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Manchester United will all put forward a proposal to Wolves.

Although Wolves are currently the form team in the Premier League with four successive victories, their promise under Vitor Pereira is unlikely to convince the 25-year-old to stay put for another season.

Cunha will seemingly have his pick of offers, providing that the clubs in question back up their interest by activating the aforementioned buy-out option.

A bidding war may ensue if that figure is not met, yet is seems unrealistic to expect none of the half-a-dozen teams to commit to that fee.

Since the start of 2023-24, Cunha has contributed 26 goals and 11 assists from 59 Premier League appearances, justifying Wolves' stance over demanding in excess of £60m.

Is there a frontrunner?

Previous reports have suggested that Cunha would prefer to represent a traditional 'big six' club over joining a surprise package such as Nottingham Forest.

There is a link with new Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta, the man who signed him for Atletico Madrid earlier in his career, while Spurs would need to break their transfer record to sign Cunha.

Newcastle would also be required to go close to their previous highest outlay, while interest from Villa could be dependent on Champions League football and whether they sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal.

Man United require the sale of a player such as Rashford to afford Cunha, particularly if they do not win this season's Europa League. body check tags ::
