Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 'Manchester United will strengthen squad'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists that Manchester United will strengthen their squad in this summer's transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that Manchester United will strengthen their squad this summer as the Red Devils look to reach the next level.

United suffered their first defeat under the leadership of Solskjaer on Tuesday night, with Paris Saint-Germain recording a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.

United's interim boss has admitted that the Red Devils had "a reality check" against the French champions but has insisted that the team will improve next season.

"It's a reality check. You can see the strength they have when they put those players in as you talk about but that's the level we want to get to, and we are looking to strengthen the squad," Solskjaer told reporters.

"And then again we have so many young players to take a step up for next season."

Solskjaer is still believed to be in pole position for the full-time position despite the defeat at PSG, with United reportedly already deciding that the Norwegian will be Jose Mourinho's long-term replacement.
