Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly failed with a recent approach for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.
While the Netherlands international has been linked with a move to a bigger club for the best part of a year, there has been little movement with regards to the 23-year-old.
However, on Sunday evening, it was widely claimed that the playmaker had agreed to sign for Manchester United on a five-year contract.
According to The Mirror, the Premier League giants only won the race for Van de Beek after he rejected a late offer from Spurs.
The report suggests that discussions with United were already in progress before one of their rivals made contact with the player.
United are said to be paying close to £40m for Van De Beek, who will leave Ajax having contributed 41 goals and 34 assists from his 175 appearances in all competitions.
