Tottenham Hotspur could go head-to-head with Manchester United for Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao in January, according to reports in Portugal.
It was recently reported in Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticas that Andre Villas-Boas wants two new additions in the January transfer window, with Coentrao at the top of his transfer agenda.
Spurs had a busy summer in which they brought in Etienne Capoue, Erik Lamela, Paulinho, Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen, as well as making other signings.
Manchester United narrowly missed out on signing Coentrao on transfer deadline day, as David Moyes sought to bring in someone to challenge Patrice Evra at left-back.
