Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the club are currently working to sign a new centre-forward, with the Red Devils determined to bring in "the right man".

The 20-time English champions have made two signings during the summer window, with Andre Onana following Mason Mount to the club, and the former completed his first training session with the club on Friday, having travelled to the United States after his move from Inter Milan was confirmed.

Atalanta BC's Rasmus Hojlund is widely believed to be Man United's leading forward target, and Ten Hag has provided an update on the club's search for a new attacker.

"It's in our power to get the right man in. We know our targets," the Dutchman told reporters during his press conference on Friday. "We do everything we can, every effort we put in to get this done. It's an area where we need improvement."

Ten Hag was also asked about Harry Kane, with Man United not making a move for the Tottenham Hotspur forward this summer despite allegedly viewing him as their number one target earlier this year.

"I don't come in to talk about specific players who are under contract at another club," said Ten Hag, with Tottenham believed to have made it clear that Kane will not be moving to a domestic rival.

"We proved, also last season, we can be very successful. We didn't have too many strikers. We still proved we were successful. I expect more from our front players.

"On a higher level. I said we have to raise the bar. I expect more from all the players. So from the front players but also across the whole team, we expect more goals."

Ten Hag also paid tribute to the "great personalities" of Mount and Onana, with the manager detailing the importance of the club's two arrivals this summer.

"I think first they are great football players, of course, that is key. But also they are great personalities. They exactly what they want. They have both a winning attitude and they can't lose so they will give 100% effort to get that done. Both are really in the team," he said.

"Great personality (Onana). First of all, he is a good goalkeeper. He has to make sure he keeps his goal clean in togetherness with the whole team, because a big part of a goalkeeper is organising.

"He is a personality yes, but he is an absolute winner. I have always worked very good with him. We achieved so many trophies and played great football. It is a challenge for him because this is a better club, better competition.

"The demands are higher, the expectations are higher. Much more fans, fanbase all across the world, so that is a challenge and therefore I wanted him because his character, he wants to have a challenge and then he is on his best."

Man United, who have beaten Leeds United and Lyon in their two friendlies this summer, will take on Arsenal in their first match of their pre-season tour on Saturday. body check tags ::
