Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag will reportedly make a final decision on the future of Amad Diallo once the team have completed their pre-season preparations.
The 20-year-old is back at Old Trafford this summer following a successful loan spell at Sunderland, managing 14 goals and four assists in 42 appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats.
Amad returned to pre-season training at the club's Carrington complex last Thursday, and he is expected to be involved in the team's first friendly of the summer against Leeds United on Wednesday.
The Ivory Coast international is set to be heavily involved in Man United's pre-season plans, with Ten Hag keen to give him plenty of opportunities to impress.
According to Football Insider, Ten Hag will make the final call on Amad at the end of pre-season, with the Dutchman set to decide whether the Ivorian will be in his plans for next season.
The report claims that Amad is likely to find it 'very hard' to break into the first-team plans of the Man United head coach, so another loan deal for next season is a strong possibility.
A number of clubs are believed to be keen to sign the youngster this summer, with Sheffield United and Burnley both said to be interested following their promotions to the Premier League.
Amad made a surprise move to Man United from Atalanta BC in January 2021, and he made eight appearances for the Red Devils in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign.
The youngster has only featured on nine times in total for the 20-time English champions, though, and he struggled during a loan spell at Rangers during the 2021-22 season.
Amad starred on loan at Sunderland last term, and he is now set to be given the opportunity to become a first-team player for the Red Devils next term.
The Ivorian largely features as a right-sided attacker, which is the position that Antony currently occupies in the team, with Jadon Sancho also playing in that area of the field.
Much could depend on whether Man United are able to bring in more than one forward this summer, which would see Marcus Rashford continue out wide rather than being used though the middle.
The team's second friendly of the summer will be against Lyon on July 19, while they will also face Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Lens and Athletic Bilbao during their pre-season.
Mason Mount has been training with his new club since last Thursday, and the England international could potentially make his unofficial debut against Leeds. body check tags ::
