Manchester United appear to have lost out on landing Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona as the playmaker reportedly moves nearer to a switch to Bayern Munich.
Thiago has been United's number one target throughout the summer, with an £18m deal said to be in the pipeline.
However, the transfer looks to have broken down after the 22-year-old agreed to move to Germany to join the European Champions, according to Spanish radio station Cadena COPE.
The source states that a chat between Bayern coach Pep Guardiola and Thiago himself has convinced the player to join his former boss at the Allianz Arena next season.
Thiago was part of the Spain Under-21 side that won the European Championships this summer.
