The agents of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey have apologised for asking fans to choose his next club amid speculation linking him with Arsenal.
The Gunners have reportedly made the 26-year-old their number one transfer target this summer and hope to trigger the £43m release clause in his contract having already held talks over a possible move.
A number of other clubs, including Arsenal's Premier League rivals Manchester United, have also been credited with an interest in Thomas, leading his agents JJ Sports Management to post a story on their Instagram story asking fans to pick his next club.
Thomas was pictured above the badges of Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, although the post was quickly deleted.
"In view of the publication that was made today Wednesday 29 April 2020 on our Instagram account, regarding the future of our player Thomas Partey, from JJ Sport Managers we want to convey that this publication was not approved by the company management," read a statement from the agency.
"An internal investigation has been opened to find out what exactly happened, we are sure that this has not been intentional on the part of any of our workers and it is probably an unfortunate mistake.
"The publication has been deleted as soon as we have become aware of its existence. In addition, the keys of all our social profiles have been modified to restrict access only to essential personnel."
Thomas has made 35 appearances for Atletico this season and drew plaudits for his performances as Diego Simeone's side knocked holders Liverpool out of the Champions League.
