Torino president Urbana Cairo has denied that defender Matteo Darmian has already joined Manchester United.
On Wednesday, the Italian club's coach Giampiero Ventura revealed that the 25-year-old would join the Red Devils, with reports indicating that £14m is the transfer fee.
It was reported earlier today that the Italy international was poised to undergo a medical with United, but Cairo says that there is still work to be done before Darmian joins the Old Trafford side.
"I'm very fond of Darmian," the Granata chief told La7. "Matteo is a very important player for us. He's essential and well liked.
"Manchester United are a great club but there's still nothing done regarding his sale. Until there is something definite, I'd prefer not to speak about it officially."
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has already signed Memphis Depay this summer, while Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is heavily expected to follow the Dutch winger.
Darmian, who has 13 Azzurri caps, joined the Turin-based club from Palermo in 2011, having begun his career at AC Milan.
