Oliver Torres has calmed speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United by insisting that he wants fight for a starting place at Atletico Madrid.
The 17-year-old was reportedly the subject of interest from United scouts towards the end of last season.
However, Torres has admitted that he only wants to play his football for Atletico in La Liga.
"I would not accept a loan deal because that would be hard for me," he told AS. "I have had a chance to leave before and I have not done so because my dream has always been to stay here and be a success with Atletico de Madrid.
"Now I hope that one day [coach Diego Simeone] has confidence in me and I can show him that I am ready.
"I am conscious that I am still only 17 and that I have to work hard in order to succeed."
Torres was part of the Spanish side that won the Under-19s European Championships earlier this month.
