Manchester United are reportedly planning a £66m bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Matheus Cunha, with the Red Devils determined to win the race for his signature.
The 25-year-old has been in outstanding form for a struggling Wolves outfit during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 10 goals and registering four assists in 18 appearances in the Premier League.
Cunha starred against Man United on Boxing Day, scoring once and providing an assist in his side's 2-0 victory, and he is thought to be on the radar of a number of major European clubs.
Arsenal continue to be linked with the Brazil international, but according to Fichajes, the strongest Premier League interest is coming from Man United, and the 20-time English champions are willing to pay £66m for him.
The report claims that Paris Saint-Germain are also in the mix, with the French giants prepared to pay a similar amount for a player who has managed 26 goals and 13 assists in 75 matches for Wolves in all competitions.
Man United 'prepared to pay £66m for Cunha'
Cunha started his professional career with Sion before making the move to RB Leipzig, and he then represented Hertha Berlin before arriving at Atletico Madrid in 2021.
The South American managed seven goals and eight assists in 54 matches for Atletico before arriving at Wolves, and he has since established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.
"In my opinion he's a player who can reach high standards in this league," New Wolves boss Vitor Pereira told Amazon Prime Video following his side's success over Man United.
When asked Cunha could join another club in January, Pereira said: "I hope not, I hope not because we need him. Of course (we need to keep him), I agree with you. We need his quality."
Would Cunha be a good signing for Man United?
Cunha looks to be the perfect fit for one of the number 10 positions in Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 formation at Man United.
Amad Diallo is the only Red Devils player to convince in that area since Amorim's arrival, and it is clear that the new head coach wants specialists in that position, with Cunha fitting the brief.
The Brazilian's ball-carrying abilities, coupled with his pace and power, have seen him star in the Premier League this season, and it would certainly be a statement signing from Man United if they could win the race for his signature. body check tags ::
