Two Premier League clubs 'make enquiries over Manchester United forward'

Manchester United are contacted by 'at least two' Premier League teams over the availability of Mason Greenwood, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly been contacted by 'at least two' Premier League teams over the availability of Mason Greenwood during this summer's transfer window.

Greenwood is currently on loan at Getafe in Spain, but as it stands, the Englishman will be returning to Old Trafford at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Getafe president Angel Torres has claimed that Man United have no intention of bringing the 22-year-old back into their first-team squad despite recent comments from Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Man United's new minority shareholder had opened the door for Greenwood to return to Old Trafford next season, but it is being widely reported that the Red Devils are planning to sell the academy product when this summer's transfer window opens for business.

According to The Telegraph, 'at least two' Premier League clubs have enquired over the availability of Greenwood ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Mason Greenwood 'attracting Premier League interest'

The report, though, claims that Greenwood is more likely to join a foreign club this summer than continue his career in English football.

Juventus and Lazio are both thought to be keen, while Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in his services.

Getafe would ideally like to keep him, but the capital outfit do not have the financial power to complete a permanent deal for the Englishman, and another loan agreement is thought to be unlikely.

Man United allegedly value Greenwood in the region of £45m, with the forward impressing at Estadio Coliseum this season, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

A return to Man United is thought to be unlikely

In January 2022, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

Greenwood had also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but the case against him was dropped last February.

The forward was told last summer that he had no future at Man United, which led to him moving on loan to Getafe.

Any move to another Premier League club would be controversial, and the Red Devils are not thought to be willing to allow him to join a team in England.

Greenwood, who last played for Man United in January 2022, has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in 129 appearances for the 20-time English champions in all competitions. body check tags ::
