Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has reportedly moved to the brink of joining Manchester United.
With Blues head coach Antonio Conte looking at ways to strengthen his squad, it has been claimed that Matic could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge, and United boss Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the Serbian having worked with him during his time in West London.
With Chelsea allegedly ready to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco, it leaves Matic with the possibility of departing the Premier League champions and according to ESPN, United are close to completing the transfer.
It has been suggested that United may pay as much as £40m for the 28-year-old, who has helped Chelsea to two league titles since returning to the club from Benfica in 2014.
During that time, he has netted seven goals from 151 appearances in all competitions, and his presence alongside Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba would hand Mourinho a huge boost ahead of the new campaign.
It has previously been claimed that Matic would be in favour of a move to Old Trafford.
