Manchester United have reportedly decided to push forward with their interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld.
United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to strengthen at the back during the summer, while Spurs find themselves in a situation where Alderweireld could soon be available for just £25m if he does not pen fresh terms.
According to the London Evening Standard, United are looking to resolve the matter for all parties and are willing to pay in the region of £40m for the Belgian international.
The North-West giants are said to be 'confident' of getting a deal done, with Spurs eyeing up Ajax youngster Matthijs de Ligt as a potential replacement for the 29-year-old.
Alderweireld has recently been introduced back into the Spurs starting lineup after a spell out of the team, but it appears that Mauricio Pochettino is still open to selling the former Atletico Madrid man in order to boost his funds for the summer window.
