Manchester United could be in a strong position to land Roma playmaker Kevin Strootman in January, according to a report in the press.
United have been tracking the 24-year-old Dutch midfielder for several years, with ESPN suggesting that sources at Old Trafford believe a move for the player could become more likely following Roma's recent elimination from the Champions League.
It was thought that the Reds sought to make a bid for the player in the summer transfer window, but any movement was put on hold because of the his cruciate knee ligament injury sustained earlier in the year.
Strootman is also considered to be on the radar of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
