Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could make a sensational swoop for Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.
The Spaniard swapped Old Trafford for the Nou Camp in 2008 for a fee of around £5m and has gone on to win multiple titles with the Catalan Outfit. Now Ferguson could launch a bid to re-sign the the 25-year-old as part of a summer freshen-up.
Pique is seen as a potential replacement of 33-year-old Rio Ferdinand, and United are also chasing a right-back and a number of midfielders, according to the Daily Star.
The Red Devils' midfield targets are thought to be Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder, Tottenham Hostpur's Luka Modric and Lille's Eden Hazard.
Other options include Borussia Dortmund's Shinji Kagawa and Gylfi Sigurdsson - who is on loan at Swansea from Hoffenheim - while Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan, impressed against United in the Champions League.
United sit second in the Premier League table, behind Manchester City on goal difference with two games to go.
